Hi students,
I apologize for a personal emergency that kept me from posting the materials you need yesterday. As you know, you have several assignments that need to be completed before next Wednesday. I will give a brief overview here, offer some links to materials and there will also be a separate email where you can post materials on Vygotsky vs. Piaget.
First, you will be responsible for reading chapters 1-4 of the text. There may be a short quiz at the beginning of class (hint, hint) so please be prepared to answer questions on the topics covered.
Second, you will need to hand in a one-page typed response to the article on Differentiation of Instruction. Please use as your base of reference all the readings, discussions, videos and other materials you have been exposed to in this class and your other classes. This paper should be brought into class, but if that is not possible, you may email it to me by 12 am on Wednesday.
Third, if you have a placement, you may begin working on your observation topic sheets and observation reports. Here is the link to all of the topic sheets. In a previous post I gave the link to the model observation report. Remember, you need to complete 6 observation reports out of the 8 topics.
Fourth, you need to find an article comparing the theories and practices of Vygotsky vs. those of Piaget. It should be an in depth published article as opposed to student work or blog posts to non-professional websites. Please go here to post your work as well as to view sample posts. Your post should be a minimum of 3 paragraphs.
Fifth, there will be another later post with some materials to print out for next class.
