Why Do I Think The Lesson Plan is High Order Thinking
Lesson Plan of the Hungry Caterpillar
Not a flat lesson where there is “chalk and talk”, or whole class modeling. However sections of the class would be engaged in different tasks to cater to cooperative learning, and to cater too to individualized learning. Below gives a description of other instances where there is the high order thinking.
Art: Opportunity to develop aesthetic values. Drawing According to Vygotsky, “Children share what they are experiencing through drawing.”
Play: Organized play must be fostered in the classroom. Society can break down when we don't take time to play. All the play was necessary to make a cooperative society possible. Dramatic play activities enhance interaction with peers and teachers and boost classroom atmosphere. Thus when kids are engaged in this they get the opportunity to role play, and like Vygotsky posits, “Social interaction precedes cognitive development.”
Writing: Write and create a graph of the foods.Writing is indicative of creativity. Creative Writing demonstrates creativity, and this is the highest point in the Blooms hierarchical scale of cognition.
The number of activities that students can participate in fosters professionalism and diversity. These are making felt cutouts of the egg on the leaf, the cocoon and the butterfly, and engaging students in retelling the story. Personalized scaffolding, where the children are assisted in choosing a part of the story that they will create. Accordingly, teachers offered multiple ways for students to demonstrate what they knew. Designing and facilitating multiple paths to reach defined learning goals is one of the hallmarks of successful differentiation( Carolan J., and Guinn A., 2007)
Lesson Plan of the Mock Elections
This is utilizing the story path method. Students would have an assimilation of the election process. This is role playing which entails creativity besides, preparing questions for the interviewing of candidates. Students would be engaged in transforming their classrooms into opposing camps. They will choose sides like Bill De Blasio and Lim Lhota( the two mayoral candidates). The opportunity to enact and dramatize fictional campaign headquarters give children scope to plan, organize, problem solve( Students would prepare a budget that would reflect cost of air time and commercials, and determine next steps in the electoral process). Also to be analytical and critical. Most of this require students participation at a higher level of the hierarchical scale. Students choosing real states and real issues require research, which the teachers would assist, accounting for the More Knowledgeable Other (MKO). MKO refers to someone who has a better understanding or a higher ability level than the learner with respect to a particular task and would enhance that child’s learning.
